From July 27 – July 31, Jamie Chacon participated in the LIU Summer Honors Institute.  Via Zoom, students engaged in active learning experiences that provided insight into careers in business and received leadership coaching from former executives. In the program the students learned about public speaking, various business careers and elevator pitch techniques.  The highlight of the program was when the instructors guided the students through a Shark Tank competition, which Jamie's team won.

Students capped off their career exploration experience with a virtual visit to a Fortune 500 company.

Jamie had the following to share about her experience:

" In the program they helped us public speak, showed us business careers, taught us elevator pitch techniques, and they made a Shark tank competition. Thankfully my team won the competition. Thank you (to business teacher Mr. Palladino) so much for introducing me to this amazing program."

Congratulations Jamie!!

Participation in the LIU Summer Honors Institute was a first-year program open to juniors who have successfully completed either College-Level Accounting and/or Virtual Enterprise.

Both classes are run under the auspices of LIU's High School Scholars Program where Lawrence HS juniors and seniors can earn up to nine college credits (CLA-3, VE-6) while in the high school classroom.
