On October 17, 2019 our grade 8 students participated in our RICH Reflections program at Lawrence Middle School. RICH Reflections Day is modeled after the award-winning Challenge Day Program. This program has received numerous awards throughout the nation, as it has touched the lives of many pre-teens and teens nationwide.
At Lawrence Middle School, our 8th graders were provided with a two period experience to interact with their peers, teachers and staff. The youth and adults were guided through a series of experiential learning experiences, with the goal to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift negative peer pressure to positive peer support, and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing and bullying.
During the program, the students were given several opportunities to speak about what’s going on for them, and what they need from one another. At the conclusion of the day, many of the students left feeling bonded, empowered and committed to making a positive difference. Thank you to our support staff, teachers and all those who made this a successful and powerful event for our students.
