During this month, our Grade 7 students had the opportunity to visit United Skates and engage in a three hour program that combines STEM education and physical education in an exciting format. During the lessons, students were able to witness various ways in which Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math come together in real world situations. Students worked collaboratively and used materials to create various structures that not only related to scientific concepts, but required students to be creative in their approach and use math to assist in solving problems.
Following the lesson, students were able to rollerskate and see what they learned put into action. One student said “My favorite part was skating with my friends! We were able to see how friction and momentum related to us moving on the rollarskates.” A great time was had by all as we continue to move Full STEAM Ahead!
